Mandi Dudish of the Champion South Gwinnett Lady Comets was named the Girls Most Valuable Player for 2006.
“Mandi continued her hot hand hitting three pointers and playing great basketball," said Mike Allison, coach of the Lady Comets who won their first ever Deep South Classic.
Joining Dudish on the All Tournament Girls Team were South Gwinnett teammate Antoinette Howard, Greater Atlanta Christian’s D’Nay Daniels and Cree Nix, Mill Creek’s Porsha Porter and Farragut’s Stephanie Torrence.
Connor Nolte of the Champion Milton Eagles was named the Boys Most Valuable Player for 2006.
Nolte showed his versatility hitting five threes against Spartanburg in their first game, hitting a pair of last second free throws under pressure to beat Brookwood by one point, and then scoring 28 points while playing a very physical game against a rugged Peachtree Ridge team in the semi finals before leading his team to victory with 27 points against Chattahoochee.
Joining Nolte on the all Tournament team were Milton teammate Tony Smith, Chattahoochee’s Trevor Gaskins, Peachtree Ridge’s Zack Graham, Brookood’s Nate Hamilton and Walton’s A. J. Bishop.
