News Title: 2008 Deep South Classic Top Prospects Information Again Available to College Coaches




The Deep South Classic again will be providing a College Coaches Corner on the Deep South Classic homepage (www.deepsouthclassic.com) where the top players chosen by the participating coaches are featured.

“This has been such a success since we started this five years ago and it just seems to grow each year,” stated Tournament Director Les Witmer. “Last year we had nearly 100 players featured as Deep South Classic Top Prospects and many if not most of these players received consideration for scholarships or follow –up contacts from college coaches.”

Information on the top prospects, including contact information, grades, stats, etc., will be available only to College Coaches who have obtained a special ID/Password provided by the Tournament Director.

The information on the Deep South Classic homepage then will be free to authorized college coaches. Printed copies of the Top Prospects of the 2007 Deep South Classic can be purchased by college officials at the tournament. Cost for each printed packet (boys and girls) will be $10.

“One thing we’re seeing is more underclass players—not just seniors—listed as top prospects,” sated Witmer. “College coaches are picking up many of these players at an earlier age to follow and then recruit one they become seniors.”

College coaches and recruiters can access the information any time-- prior to the tournament, during the tournament and even after the tournament as an aid in their efforts in evaluating player talent for their athletic scholarship considerations

“It’s really not that much work once we set it up and the high school coaches provide the information,” added Witmer. “We know the college coaches like it and as one said when she requested her ID and password renewed—it’s great and you really have spoiled us!”
